Catch Up: Part 2

Olivia was the only one who wanted to play baseball. So we all braved the cold to watch her play. She absolutely loved every second of it. She figured out that every time the ball was hit they threw the ball to first base. That is when she decided she would be the first baseman and she would kick the boys off if they tried to get there first. Liv was not shy at all and would fight with the rest of them to get the ball. She was an awesome t-ball player.

Summer Catch Up: Part 1

This has been a crazy summer, but we have done some fun things. Memorial day weekend we went to warm springs and Quake Lake with my family and all the cousins. It was cold and rainy but the kids still had fun. The next day we went to Virginia City and Lewis and Clark Caverns. The kids were troopers they all did great driving in the cars for so long.

Christmas concerts

Alex decided she wanted to do orchestra this year. (I tried to talk her out of it with all my might.) But much to my surprise she likes it and she doesn't even complain about practicing. She is really good for just starting this fall. Last night they had their Christmas concert and she did a great job.

PJ's class sang Jingle Bells for their Christmas Program this year. I couldn't get a very good shot of her, but she did great. Nothing is better than Elementary and Middle School concerts!!!

Preslee's first piano recital

Preslee had her first piano recital Sunday. Our cute neighbor teaches her piano. It is so nice she can just walk to her lessons, and Preslee thinks she is great. PJ did such a great job and so did the other girls. It is amazing how much she has learned in just a few short lessons. I didn't video her pieces very good so I will have her play one her Christmas songs and post it later.

Our October started out with Olivia needing dental surgery. We got her to the hospital, they got her all ready for surgery, even had the IV in when we decided not to do it because she sounded really croupy. She was amazing at the hospital and didn't even flinch when they put her IV in. After we left the hospital though she threw up every 20 minutes untill I got her some medicine to make her stop.

Alex is growing up and this year we decided to let her work in spud harvest. I think she thought working was going to be more fun than it actually was, but when she got her paycheck it was all worth it. Travis and I even got to drive truck this year (one day for each of us) On the day I worked Olivia and Preslee rode with me all day in the truck.

Preslee turned 7 this year. She is our girly girl. This year I asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she said a real cell phone. I told her try again, so she decided on an MP3 player. We had her party even though she wasn't feeling the greatest. She missed 4 days of school, but she was ok with that. We did the traditional pizza party and carving pumkins. PJ we love you and are thankful you are part of our family!!!

Halloween this year started with the kids dressing up for school on Friday. Alex was Snow white and PJ was a witch. On Saturday, we went to our trunk or treat and the Burton one. Our kids make us go to the Johnson's house every year because they make their house a spook alley. Dawson didn't even make it inside because he is so scared of masks. Dawson was a monkey and Olivia was a butterfly again (her choice). We ended the night with free tacos from taco bell.

Liv has been waiting for this day for so long. Me, on the other hand, I could wait a little longer. I can't believe she is already this old. Any way the day is here and she looks as cute as a bug. I hope her first day is as great as she has thought it would be!!!

First Day of School

Today was Alex and Preslee's first day of school. Alex is in 6th grade and Preslee is in 1st grade. It is amazing how fast they grow up. We started the morning with the annual neighborhood breakfast at the bus stop at 7:30 which all the kids love. PJ catches the bus at 7:45 (this is a total shock to her system, she slept in till 9 almost every day this summer) She said she didn't want me to meet her at the school but I forgot to give her lunch money. I met her at the school at the same time the bus got there and she was having a panic attack that they weren't going to let her eat lunch. We got her calmed down and met her teacher who is new this year, and when I left she was happy and playing. Then I took Alex to school. She was pretty nervous mostly about opening her locker. We found her home room and some friends and she did great. They both came home excited about school--Hopefully it will be a great year!!!!!

Demolition Derby

Last night Rexburg had a demolition derby. Our family hasn't ever been so we decided to try it this year. We met my sister and her 3 youngest kids and Paige. It was pretty fun but it was CROWDED. We were sitting on the bottom row which ended up not being to bad because the kids could sit on the ground and just play in the dirt. We were all filthy by the end of the night and we had to have a bath before getting into bed. I never got a picture of Dawson at his dirtiest, he was mud from head to toe even in his mouth with tootsie roll and red licorice all over him. Do you ever miss the days when being dirty and sticky didn't matter?

Catch up Part 1

Our lives have been crazy lately so here goes a really big post. Dawson turned 1. I can't believe a whole year has passed. He keeps us on our toes. The girls still fight over him and they think he is the greatest. He is spoiled rotten and we love him that way.

This 4th of July we went to the parade. Last year I had to watch it on the computer from the hospital room. Then after the parade we went to Gringos to eat. This is a tradition we have to do. After getting our bellies full my whole family loaded up and went to Ririe Reservoir for an afternoon of boating. Then we ended the day as always with fireworks at my mom's house. It was a full day but we had a great time!!

Preslee played t-ball this year and I was her coach. It actually turned out to be pretty fun. By the end of the season the kids had caught on to what they were supposed to be doing. There were only 2 girls on my team and 9 boys. Every time the other team hit the ball my team would fight to get the ball. They would kick it away from each other or tackle each other just to get the ball. It was very funny to watch. Once one of them caught the ball they would just hold it up in the air to show everyone they got it. PJ liked playing a little. She isn't really a fighter but she did like to bat. Although her favorite part was the treats after the game.

In celebration of the 4th and 24th of July our ward had a primary parade. Everyone in primary was invited to decorate their bikes and join a parade around our neighborhood. It was quite the event a policeman headed the parade and the bishop rode his horse. After, they all got ice cream. This was one of their favorite primary activities.

Dawson has been trying to walk for quite a while now, but he is getting pretty good at it now. We have had to totally baby proof the house because he is constantly into everything. He doesn't sit still for a second. My dad says he is like wrestling a crocodile. It is so fun to watch all the new things he is learning everyday. He will dance and he has learned a couple of words (hi, dad, mom, Trixie(my dad's dog who he will just crawl following him forever), bye) Time goes by way to fast!

PJ's big bike crash

I don't know what it is about my kids, but they seem to be very accident prone. Preslee was riding her bike yesterday and crashed. Her face was the first thing to hit the sidewalk, so now her two front teeth are very loose and she has the biggest fat lip I have ever seen. This picture looks great. When she first came in she had so much blood in her mouth she was grargling and she was bleeding so much I couldn't figure out where the blood was coming from for about 5 minutes.

Preslee graduated kindergarten last week. I am so glad to have afternoon kindergarten over, but also really sad that she is growing up. Preslee loved kindergarten, more for the social than the learning. Her teacher was great and created a memory book for each child complete with pictures of every activity they did this year. She had a great year and met lots of new friends. Congratulations PJ we love you.

This year was great. Instead of going to the Rexburg Easter Egg Hunt, our neighborhood decided to do our own. We donated eggs and then some of the older kids hid the eggs and the kids 11 and under got to do the hunt. Alex thought she was a little too old so she helped Dawson, but PJ and Liv had a great time. As always we went to my mom's for Sunday dinner on Easter Day. Each family got an Easter basket and did an Easter Egg Hunt there too.

Alex graduated from the DARE program tonight. Her whole 5th grade class was there. It turned out to be a good program and only lasted 45 minutes. Here are some pictures of her with her friends Shayla, Ashlan and Maren. I am amazed at all the things she has learned in DARE and I am glad they do this program in our school district. She would come home each week with something new to teach me about drugs and alcohol and why they are bad for you. I just hope she remembers all this stuff when she gets older. Great Job Alex!!

Funny Boy

Dawson has been wheezing for months and the doctors have put him on allergy medicine and everything nothing has seemed to help. After we got home from Disneyland he got broncitis. The doctors put him on more antibiotics as soon as he finished the those he would wake up screaming every hour. He was also getting teeth at this time. So the great mom I am I just thought he was the world's worst teether. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and at 5:30 one morning I took him to the ER. His eardrum had ruptured and his white count was way high. The doctor gave him a shot of antibiotics and we had to take him back for more blood draws and more shots of antibiotics to make sure it was working. IT WORKED and now he is very happy as you can see and no more wheezing YEAH!!!

Disneyland Day3

This was our last day in Disneyland. We really just finished everything we hadn't got to do the first day. We waited in line for an hour and a half for the new Pixie Hollow to see the fairies. We finally got in and there were only 2. Totally not worth it, but oh well. We also did Toon Town which was a huge hit for the girls. All in all it was a great vacation. We decided to head home this day and we planned on staying in Mesquite. When we got there every motel was full. We ended up driving to Saint George and got there about midnight. The next day we got up and finished the drive home.

Disneyland Day 2

Day 2 in Disneyland was Valentines Day so we took our kids to a character breakfast. It was well worth the money. The kids loved it. Dawson's favorite was Minnie Mouse. Yes he is sucking her nose in this picture. I just had to tell myself that they do clean the costumes daily (I hope). Liv loved all of them and was constantly hugging any of them that were any where near our table. Preslee and Alex both thought it was great too!

This day we spent at California Adventure. The hit of this place was Bug's Life Land. We went on all the rides and went to the 3-D movie. Here we went to Playhouse Disney. Pres and Liv loved this. Alex was a little old, but she didn't complain. Then we took Alex on the BIG roller coaster, and Prelsee and Alex both went on Tower of Terror. The favorite ride here was Soarin over California. It was great! When we got back to the motel Travis had ordered a dozen roses and had them delivered to the room. He is great!!

Part II: Disneyland day 1

The first night we got to California the girls wanted to see the ocean. We hopped in the car and headed off again. It was rush hour and the sun was going down so we just hurried and ended up at the Queen Mary. As it turns out this place is a dive. We were the only people there and all the stores have gone under, but the girls saw the ocean. The wind was blowing and it was freezing. The next morning we got up and headed to Disneyland. We were all very excited. The first ride Alex wanted to tackle was the Matterhorn (this is her favorite) We were almost done with the ride and it broke down so we had to walk down through the middle of the mountain to get out. We got alot of riding in before it started to rain and rain and rain. The one good thing about the rain was most people went home. There were no lines and you could just stay on most of the rides and go again. Liv and Pres hated Splash Mountain but we decided that since we were already wet this would be a great time to go. Cruella D'ville was the first character we saw and Olivia didn't want any part of her. The girls had autograph books so we got to stand in line for every character that we saw to get autographs and a picture. We were cold but it was still fun.

Part I of vacation: LAS VEGAS

On day one of our vacation we drove all day and stayed in Las Vegas. My brother and sister-in-law and their 3 kids met us there. We went to the Tournament of Kings. The kids watched the show and didn't move. They either really liked the show or were too tired to move. Either way they did great. The next morning we went to breakfast and went to M&M world. (4 floors of only M&M stuff what's not to love) We visited the Rain Forest Cafe and went to see the lions at the MGM. Then we got back in the car to drive to California.

We got another snow storm this weekend so the girls decided to build a snowman. They got very creative it is a mom holding a baby. Then Travis and I took the kids sledding behind the 4-wheeler. Olivia only wanted to ride on the 4-wheeler because she was too scared to ride in the sleigh, but Travis talked her into it assuring her that he would drive really slow if she would try it. It only took about 30 seconds for her to be screaming that he needed to go FASTER! Dawson even rode on the 4-wheeler for his first time, and I even went in the sleigh with the girls. It was fun. I haven't done that for a really long time.

Alex's Birthday part 2

For Alex's birthday this year I took Alex and 3 of her friends Evan's beauty school to get their hair and nails done. It was a lot of fun and I didn't really have to do anything so that is always great. Preslee and Olivia got their nails done too. There is a boy hairdresser there, and I was teasing the girls that they were gonna get him and Ashlan really did. The girls laughed about it for hours.

Time has gone so quickly. It totally doesn't seem like it has been 11 years. Alex is beautiful, kind, and always thinking of others. We love her so much. She is a huge help with her sisters and brother. Talking on the phone has recently become one of her favorite pass times, I guess that is just one of the signs that she is growing up. It seems like this time of year life is just one big party. The first collage is me and my kids carolling with a group of us from my work. Travis had to work till 6 and that is what time the party started. The Thueson's brought their horses and sleigh and we carolled through Rexburg. It was great and the kids loved it. After that we went back to the office and had chilli, cinnamon rolls, and hot chocolate. Travis did make it for the food.

Saturday after Alex's basketball game we took the girls to see Santa. Only PJ and Olivia would sit on his lap. Alex thinks she is too big to sit on his lap in public and Dawson was asleep.

Last night was our annual neighborhood party. Instead of gifts we all go over to our neighbor's for doughnuts, hot chocolate, and singing and visiting around the fire. We all donate money for a secret Santa and give it to a needy family. We got snow just in time. All the kids in the neighborhood get along really well so it is always fun to get together. I think there are 13 kids in our subdivision that all go to kindergarten with Preslee. Olivia just wanted to lay and look up at the snow falling, and Dawson totally just sacked out.

Thanksgiving Recap

These are some pictures of our Thanksgiving. We got to Twin Falls around 9:00 and went to our motel to swim. We swam till 11:15 at night then went to bed. The next day we went to Mandy and Adam's house where there is always great food and fun. The kids had a great time going to the park across the street and it was great weather. Thank you to Mandy and Adam for letting us come we had a great time. Thank you Angie for sending my camera (Dawson's present is adorable)

Preslee is 6 years old today where has the time gone. These are some pics from her party at school. Her teacher is great. She got to wear the birthday vest at school, then they get to go and pop popcorn for the class. Preslee was so excited she told me "Mom, I got to pop the popcorn and they didn't even use a microwave." She was very impressed with the air popper. I came to her class and while the kids ate their popcorn I read them a story. They have a fun little birthday cheer that they say instead of singing. She had a great time!! Happy birthday Preslee We love you!

Today when I came out of my room Preslee and Olivia had unloaded the dishwasher and put away the dishes all by themselves without being asked. I love it when my kids do things like this. Preslee and Alex love to vacuum and fight over who gets to do it. Olivia has found a love for the computer and has figured out how to get onto the her favorite website "girlsgogames". She would spend all day on these games if I would let her. Great pictures on the computer screen. Sorry I noticed that when I went back and looked at my blog. And here is the finished quilt top. I still have to quilt it and bind it but that is gonna take a while.

So I have been taking a quilting class through the Relief Society in my ward. This is the result after 2 classes. I have my last class tonight so stay tuned for the finished project. I was amazed it turned out this well considering this is my first real attempt at sewing, and when it started out it was just hundreds of little squares. Don't look too close you will realize it doesn't totally match up.

Spud Harvest 2008

It is now spud harvest in Rexburg or as Liv calls it Grandpa is harving the potatoes. The kids are out of school till the 16th. Today we went up to my parents farm to show the kids how potatoes are grown and harvested.

Over the weekend Travis' mom and dad got their mission call. They are going to the Moscow Russia mission. (check it out here Mission Call) We will miss them but are very happy for them. Thanks for being such great examples. My kids are blessed with such amazing grandparents and great-grandparents on both sides of the family We love you all very much!!

Ok this picture looks really gross but let me explain. This morning I was eating my Lucky Charms(I know not very healthy but tasty) and Olivia wanted a bite. I told her she could just have mine. A few minutes later she brought back my bowl and said I could have the rest she was full. How sweet is she. She ate the marshmellows and left the rest for me.

Dawson is our only little boy. He is just learning to smile and laugh. He is spoiled already and loves to be held. He is getting so big already which makes me very sad. He has been alot of fun and we love having him in our family.

Olivia is our wild child and we love her for that. Everyday she keeps us guessing what she will say or do next. She loves anyone smaller than her and thinks they all love her to pack them around. Her favorite thing right now is Tom and Jerry (thank heavens for the DVR). She will watch it for about an hour each day. Her favorite color is blue and has been since the day she learned her colors. She is alot of fun and we don't know what we would do without her.

Preslee is our girly girl. She loves pink and purple. She wants nothing to do with sports but did find out that golf wasn't that bad when I signed her up this summer. She is always flipping herself upside down and all around and we are going to try gymnastics this year. She is usually very easy going untill it comes to food. She is my fussiest eater and hates spaghetti. She is loving school and looks forward to the bus ride everyday. She is great and we love her!

Alex is our sporty girl. She loves sports and is willing to try to play any of them. She is a huge help with her younger sisters and brother. She is very tender hearted and shy. She loves hanging out with her cousins and friends and is always willing to hang out with either grandma. She is also our animal lover. Her favorite colors are lime green and pink. We love her very much.

On Monday we went to the Fair. It was cold and rainy but the kids still had fun. My mom and dad took Dawson and Ellyn home so the rest of us could stay and play in the cold. Thanks mom and dad we appreciate all you do for us. Olivia didn't feel good but she went on every ride she could. Preslee, Natalie, and Olivia even went through the haunted house by themselves the very first time. It must not have been too scary because they all came out laughing. My sister Natalee took the older girls (Alex, Saige, and Shay) on the bigger rides, while Nick and Marci took Preslee, Natalie, and Ryker on the Middle sized rides, and Travis and I took Liv and Wes on the little rides so they wouldn't be waiting around so much. We had to keep moving to stay warm BRRRRRRRR it was cold.

BYU Football

Dawson's first football game. He did pretty good at the game considering when the game started it was 95 degrees. Luckily after the first quarter some clouds came in and shaded us and cooled it off. The girls got to stay at Grandma Jensen's and go on a 4-wheeler ride. They had a great time!

I had a interview with Beehive Credit Union on Wednesday. It went good. He said he would call me back on Thursday. All Thursdays I was worry about the phone call. No phone call by five o'clock, so I thought I didn't get the job. But, at 6:30 I got a call and he said I got the job. I told him that I would get back with in on Friday. I thought once I was offered the job my worries would be over, I was wrong. So I called my parents for advise (got alot of advise) After doing all the advise I took the job, now I just have to take a test on Tuesday to see if I am even able to have the job.

I am sad to leave Zions it has been a great opportunity to learn and grow.

First Day of School

Today is Alex and Preslee's first day of school. Both of them were excited and nervous. Alex goes to the middle school and she was very nervous. When we got to the school her friends were already in the classroom so I walked her in. She thought she had the same teacher as her best friend but they are on the same team with different teachers, so life was a little traumatic. Preslee was so excited she was making me crazy all morning, but the bus finally came. She hopped on the bus and only looked back for me to take a picture. Hopefully tomorrow goes a little more smoothly!

Monday night Justin, Jen, and Jaylee came out to Max and Deanna's for a cookout and to let the kids play. The kids had a great time in the playhouse, feeding the horses carrots, and jumping on the trampoline.

Trip to the ZOO

The kids and I went to the zoo Monday for something fun to do before school starts. The girls loved it. Alex loves the monkeys. Preslee liked the goats, and Olivia liked the otters. It was a fun day for everyone.

So Olivia has decided she loves taking pictures of everyone, and Travis has decided he has been going at this job thing all wrong and he should be a model. Really, Travis is the only one who will pose for her. The pictures aren't to bad for a 3 year old.

Kick Ball

Last week for family home evening we went to the trees behind my parents house to have a cook out. After we had all eaten we got a game of kickball going. This is a pic of the kids waiting in line for their turn to kick. Preslee would let them roll it to her then she would stop the ball, and then kick it. Alex is a pro(she has played at school lots of times). And Liv she is always content to just have Shay do all the work while she has all the fun.

The two older girls took swimming lessons at Green Canyon this year. They both had a blast but we are glad it is over.

Dawson's blessing

Dawson was blessed last weekend by Travis. After the blessing we went to my mom's house for dinner. Thank you to everyone who came. We wished everyone could have made it, but we totally understand that life is crazy busy.

Roaring Springs Water Park

On our vacation we also went to the Roaring Springs Water Park. Preslee went on every slide she was tall enough for and Alex went on all but 2. Olivia was just happy in the lazy river and the kiddie pool with her pink inner tube. The wave pool was another favorite. Dawson just layed in the stroller most of the day. He did get a little wet just to stay cool. Sorry you don't get any great pics of me and Travis in our swimsuits. (ha ha)

Build A Bear as fast as you can

We decided we were sick of Rexburg so we took a vacation to Boise. We got to the Build a Bear about 10 minutes before closing time. The girls made their bears in record time. Alex chose a turtle, Preslee chose a purple bear, and Olivia chose a monkey.

Rigby Lake

Travis took the scouts to Rigby Lake so we decided to go with them. The girls had a blast. They burried each other in the sand and played in the freezing water. Olivia is a little fish, we had to keep telling her to come back closer to the shore. Travis took them out in the rubber raft and swam with them, Dawson and I just watched from the shore.

Travis has been very busy this summer. After our neighbor mowed the weeds around our trampoline Travis decided it was time for some landscaping. The project took about 3 weeks and it was the hottest days of the summer, but he got it done. He did a great job!!!!!!
